  • Moving on

    I'm changing my dreams

    They were focused on now

    I’m young and it seems

    I didn’t ask how

    how to build

    how to be

    how to will

    how to see

    see what’s right

    see what’s real

    see the night

    can’t seal a deal

    my two big goals

    are forgotten forever

    they can’t make me whole

    no matter whatever

    he can’t hurt me now

    they can’t change my mind

    he can’t tell me how

    to get through this bind

    I’m telling you now

    You know who you are

What you forced on me then

    Has left this big scar

    No longer will I

    Take the easier way

    I’ll struggle to get by

But at least I can say

    I’m free

  • Dreams

Last night, I had a 2 dreams that I can remember. In the first dream, I was checking the mailbox, which is attached to my house. So, as always, I had one foot in the door, one on the front porch step and hand in the mailbox, but this time, a guy in his late 40s walks up to me and tries to take my mail. I tried to grab it fast and get in the house but he got a piece and tried to get in the door. I got the screen door closed and said I was calling the police. I closed and locked the front door and hid by the couch. He yelled and I woke up.
The second dream was a dream I have had a few times. It is a strange dream. It was in a house that has the exact same living room as my house but the rest of the house is different.  I was sitting on my couch. Behind me was our big bay window with maroon curtains. The curtains were pulled back and the light was shining in. I saw something move behind me and when i looked it was gone. I followed it through the windows throughout the house. It was moving fast like a blur and looked like a large black cat or a small creepy person. I made it to the back of the house and heard music. I peeked outside and saw a huge whirlpool with Sherri Shepherd from the View lounging in it. She looked at me with that creepy, angry stare and instantly started chasing me. I tried to outrun her but she was too fast. Then I woke up.
I didn't recognize her the first few times I had the dream. I dont watch the View, but I had just seen her on an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond the other night, so I recognized her this time. Weird... but scary. I can't bring myself to open the curtains or check the mail today. I know Sherri Shepherd wont be chasing me around the neighborhood but I fear that when I open the curtains I will see something racing around the house.

Have you had any weird dreams lately?

Tomorrow is the big family "Hall" event. My mom has exactly 50 cousins and almost all of them have more than one kid. Out of the 150-200 family members I know about 10 people (including my parents and grandparents). This is the only time of the year we see most of these people.
The family rents a VFW Post to fit us all in. We have a buffet lunch and then my uncle plays Santa. Every parent brings a gift for their kids for Santa to pass out. Its cute watching the kids get so excited. I wonder if that's how I was...I might have been one of the shy kids that get excited on the inside and sat in the back instead of the little girls that run to hug santa and sit right next to him.
As kids and then as teenagers, my cousin and I could entertain ourselves with whatever games we got for Christmas but now that my cousin is married and has a baby he doesn't come, and I don't get Jurassic Park board games and Gameboy Games for Christmas anymore so I am forced to answer the repetitive questions all about me. It's almost depressing each year when I have nothing exciting to tell them about my year, but this year I am determined to find something to talk about! I will be prepared with fun stories instead of giving the same speech I usually do. "School's good, classes are easy, not working but I'm looking, no boyfriend but I'm looking...etc"

So here is my list of things to talk about:
    1. New school (transferred up to Concordia Wisconsin)
    2. Working/traveling with the vball team
    3. The back injury...which is the reason my life has changed so much in the past year
    4. Spontaneous trip to Pittsburgh for a Brewers game! (thats my favorite!)
    5. Going to about 20 Brewers games (including PNC Park and Wrigley)
    6. Starting guitar lessons
    7. Alcohol poisening...nope, probably won't want to spread that news around
    8. New dorm room, on Lake Michigan
    9. Changing my major to Exercise Physiology (Pre PT)
    10. Getting my Certified Mixology license! ha

If I get stuck with one of those awkward silences I can bring up one of the previous stories to impress my family. It is my goal to make this year at the Hall fun instead of dreading it.

Do you have a family tradition you dread going to each year? If so, what about it do you dislike?

I received my Christmas miracle today. I missed an exam a few weeks ago due to alcohol poisoning. This was not an excuse I felt was worthy of a second chance at the exam. My prof let me take it this afternoon. My grade went from an F to a B...WOW.
And people say miracles don't happen...
They may not be as visible and eye catching as they were in the Bible, but where's the lesson in that these days? It's the little things that count.

    Do you believe in miracles?
